Countryside Alliance

Another attempt at the heritage trend of a/w11. This was my interpretation for work (i.e fairly smart)- vintage Laura Ashley blue tweed pencil skirt, ruffle top, knee high tan kurt geiger boots and a wrap around shawl. As it was raining, I pulled my hair down and wore a brown felt floppy hat to maintain dry-ness.
Oo-arrr.

its been aaaaaaages...

 chillaxed vintage get up...
just a dash of the heritage trend
my must have staple for a/w11

Its been ages since I last posted, and for this I apologise. Iv have literally been on holiday (lived in a bikini- photos i'd rather not post) and been working 24/7 (boring uniforms) so I didnt think people would enjoy seeing these. I am currently preparing to move to London where I will be starting a Fashion Buying Internship in 3 weeks time... I therefore have chucked piles of clothes towards the charity shop as I need whittle down what I am taking with me, and make space for the new A/W items I am going to be needing. A trend I will be rocking this autumn is Heritage. As I am from the southwest I have lots of westcountry tweed, aran knits, wax jackets and wellies- all of which can be translated into big city wardrobe. I will also be trying my hand at the fetish trend (mixing leather and lace) and the cowboys&indians (collar tips, western neck ties - see above, and suede/fringing). I am so looking forward to it- A chance to wear what I want without being stared at like a nutter, which is what normally occurs back here at home.

Hope everyone is well.

The Degree Fashion Show 2011....

Screen grab from runway film- my dress

My dress on the runway
Going back down the runway
Just a few pictures from the PCAD degree fashion show 2011 that happened last week. These are a couple of snaps of my dress on the catwalk. Im so happy with how it looked in the end as it had such great catwalk impact, especially with the big frilly petticoat underneath. I am trying to locate a clearer full length image of my dress, which I will upload when found. Although it was lots of fun, Im super happy its all over now. It was an exhausting few days.

its been a wee while...

Whistles tie-dye wrap dress, vintage leather jacket and chunky booties
River Island Limited Edition sequin skirt- picked up at vintage fair, white GAP tee and Kurt Geiger Boots

I realise I havent uploaded anything new for a while, so heres a double whammy!! Firstly theres a little snapshot of my new whistles dress that I picked up on eBay for £25, and my gorgeous leather biker jacket that I got given as a xmas gift a few years back. Its never had much of an outing, but now iv decided it shall be worn to rock-up an outfit during the day and of an evening. Secondly is a snap of what I am wearing today. Im off to a contemporary craft fair premier this eve, and I wanted an excuse to wear this gorgeous sequin skirt I picked up at a Frockaholics Anonymous vintage fair 2 weeks ago. I volunteered to help out at this fair, and in return got to pick out whatever goodies I wanted from the rails. Some treats included some faaaabulous highwaisted suede peg leg trousers from the 80's (super cute), an Aquascutum camel winter coat, a gorgeous turqouise duffel bag, never-been-worn moshulu deck shoes, a stunning high ruffle neck white blouse, and of course this corker of a skirt. I cant wait to go stand in a field and spin and twirl so it all flairs out.... Gorge.

Hope y'all are well. If you get a chance to, can you please take a look at my uni marketing project blog, which is designed to target a specific audience to sell my final garment. Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Final project... the end is nigh!

Above are just a few pictures of my final garment. As some of you may know, I am a fashion student, but construction is not my thang. Im more promotions and marketing savvy, but iv given it my best shot. Il be honest, its going better than expected. When finished, the skirt will have a huge pink peticote under to give the dress a fabulous 50's shape. Fingers crossed all goes well!!

Keep Calm And Stay Reem

... a moto I shall be sticking to this coming exam/deadline season.
Clothes wise today I stuck with a smart casual look; a pussy bow blouse (2nd hand), tailored peg leg trousers with skinny tan belt (Zara), with cute cream and silver heeled round toed shoes. I also used my Celine handbag to transport all my goodies around with me. Including an umbrella...
Where's the nice weather gone??

It Should Have Been Me William! But I'l settle for Harry!

Happy Royal Wedding Day everyone. I hope you all watched it as avidly as I. I was awake fairly early because of my dogs so I was pretty much glued to the entire 6am-2pm coverage that was on the tv, and i'm sure youl agree, it did not disappoint. The Mr was not amused as I kept drooling over Harry, skulked off to study for his exams, leaving me to enjoy it all in peace.THAT dress was just stunning. My jaw nearly hit the floor when I first caught a glimpse of it. I couldnt quite believe how close it was to my dream wedding dress that iv been raving about since I was 14- The lace sleeves and the stunning neckline, the tiny waist and the big detailed skirt and train... Sarah Burton is a genius!!
I visited a family friend with some champers and tarts and cakes, to discuss the days events and have a catch up. As the weather was fairly nice, I put on my new floral sleeveless tie-waist shirt with my skinny cargo pants and my beautiful new coral and rafia weave wedge shoes which I treated myself to when I was up in London 2 weeks ago. They are from Office, are super comfy (apart from some minor big toe chaffing where the fabric needs to be worn in), and only cost £65. A super bargin that brightens up any outfit. I threw on my cardi when the sun went behind the clouds, and painted my nails neon pink to pick out colours in the shirt. Manifique.
Hope y'all are well.

Barbour F/W 11 shoot

Off duty- maxi and slouchy cardigan.
 Port Eliot- St Germans
Floral and feather chandelier- I NEED this in my bedroom.
Barbour shoot for new catalogue in the Orangery

I went for a walk around Port Eliot house and gardens today, and stumbled upon my dream home, beautiful male models, and the Barbour F/W 11 catalogue shoot. A good trip all in all. Sadly I was in my off duty outfit of a H&M maxi dress which I manged to tear up the side climbing in the back of the Porsche, and my Fat Face slouchy knit cardi, so didnt look great on location. Shame really.

High Waisted Hetti

When in doubt- high waist it!
Blue Bell Woods

I recently purchased a fab pair of denim high waisted hot pants from tesco. I got them in a size bigger than I would normally do in order to give me more leg room and make them heaps more comfortable. Theyr so perfect for this gorgeous sunny weather we'v had, I've literally worn them every day... They can be worn with vest tops, baggy t-shirts tucked in and shirts- and can be dressed up or down with sandals, flip flops or Converse. Today I matched them with a chequered western style shirt (Topshop), navy Converse, a cute tan tassle & stud saddle bag (Peacocks), and neon nails (acid yellow, fluro orange and shocking pink- Barry M) to tie in a little seasonal trend.  I feel these short shorts may get a great deal of wear this S/S season. Hurrah for a bargin!
I also took my camera up to the woods this afternoon and got some snaps of blue bell woods where I walk my dogs. Above is a sample of some of the photos I took. Beautiful im sure you'd agree!
Long may this gorgeous weather continue!!!
Happy Easter one and all!

Neon babaaaay.

So I bought this trendy jumper on ebay last week and it finally arrived yesterday. £3.99!! Super bargin! Thick black knit with flecks of neon wool splattered through it, its hitting the spot nicely. I think it is home made as there are no labels anywhere on it. I will be wearing it out this evening with my yellow pencil skirt and wedge boots, making it nice and casual, whilst keeping me snug whilst the weathers back to being rubbish...

Lushcious Lashes

For my birthday which was 2 weeks ago, I got a set of semi permenant individual eyelashes put in up in a spa in Exeter. The photo isnt too clear so its difficult to get a real understanding of have fabulous and long they are. I no longer have to wear "lashings" of mascara (excuse the pun!) on my top lashes, but I was unable to go cold turkey completely so I use tiny bit on my bottom lashes to really open up the eye. I can now get up in the morning and pop on a little splodge of concealer and a quick hint of bronzer and im pretty much ready to go! I would really recommend this to anyone, and at £50 for a full set, I think its a great time and money saver as I no longer have to fork out for mascara every other week. The salon I went to was Purity Day Spa on Cathedral Square, Exeter. Ask for Zoe.

Polka Dot Dolly!

Polka dot nails...

So a big trend this spring/summer season is interesting nails... Plain polish just wont cut it this time round! Cool prints and nail art include; palm trees (as seen on Alexa Chung on the FROW of LFW), googly eyes (as seen at Giles), neon animal print (as seen on fierce pop icons such as Jessie J and Rhianna), but one that we people at home can DIY, is polka dots. I tried this with some pastel easter colours, and as a result I look like I have mini easter eggs on the end of my fingers! Very cute and easy to do!
All you need is your 2 colours of choice (prefereably contrasting), 1 for a light base coat and a slightly stronger punchier colour for the dots. White would also work here! You first need to paint a clear base followed your base colour coat and leave to dry. When this is solid, use an old kirby and bend it open. Dip this into your contrasting colour, being careful not to get too much paint on the tips as this will result in an uneven finish. Dab gently onto your base coat, leaving plenty of space between each dot. Try and follow the polka dot pattern i.e each line with a half drop. If you arent sure what this is, use your search engine to find an image of the print and copy. Allow these dots to dry and cover with a clear top coat to give you a glossy finish that wont shift or smudge. This style is a little more difficult to do on your right hand (if you right handed and vice versa if your a lefty), however persevere as practice makes perfect. If you really struggle, ask a patient friend to help you out! You could then return the favour. Another DIY nail art that you can try at home is pinstripes. For this youd repeat the process but use a tooth pick to draw the lines horizontally or vertically, which can give you a cute nautical look. (try using reds, whites and blues to enforce this look!)
Hope alls well! If you have any questions or come up with any cool nail art looks that you experimented with, upload them on my comments! Would love to hear from you.

Hippy- Happy Easter

Hippy-chic, playing with tiedye and feather accesories....
Testing my new camera- subject- "Gus"
Beautiful birthday flowers

Its been a little while since my last post, but hopefully from here on out the pictures I upload will be of a lot better quality as I finally got my new camera for my birthday!! As well as this gift I got a Celine tote handbag from the Mr (ah-mazing!) and permenant individual eyelashes from Mama (yaaay). A very good haul this year I must say. For the past week iv been rocking a hippy chic sort of look with maxi skirts and dresses, denim shorts (weather permitting), braid hair bands and feathers etc... I works well in the sunshine, but as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud it makes me feel all miserable. I feel next week i might go back to the usual bright colours. Id love to try out the White trend, but it wouldnt suit my skin tone, so perhaps  il wait a little later on in the summer for when i have a tan!
Hope everyones well,

Shoot on location

me having a dance on the wall in the sunshine

Today was a glorious day where I discovered my calling in life. Standing on set bossing models around and directing photoshoots. It was heaven. Especially with the beautiful sunshine that blessed us all day long at Fort Bovisand. Above are a couple of polaroids I took through out the day. Forgive the hurrendous quality, but the film is 6years expired, so its understandable. - Unfortunately I have had to remove 4 of them as they have yet to be sign off. I will re-add these once the problem has been addressed.
Clothes wise for me, I got it completely wrong it seems... A flimsy summer dress right on the coast with the blustery wind, didnt turn out so well. I spent most my time hoiking it back down trying to preserve a little dignity. It looked pretty though, so thats the main thing.
Hope every one is well.

retro ronda...

Ok so my mom dug out some real trendy old high waisted Laura Ashley trousers that she used to wear in the 80's and I immeadiately fell in love with them. Theyv got such a cute faded look to them which id probably fork out a good £50 for if I found them in a shop. Ordinarily id wear these with a chunky pair of pink espadrils, but, sadly I have huuuuge blisters on my heels so had to go for flip flops today instead. This is a look that not all people like, but I plan to rock it all through the spring time as the florals tick a big seasonal trend, and theyr super comfy. Im thinking, big chunky wooden necklaces and bangles, and maybe throwing in some neon to mix it up abit.
Hope your all enjoying the sunshine. Lets hope it lasts.

on a day were you wake up with a crazy barnet you can...
pop on a floppy hat - very glam...
go ballerina style and tie on a flower garland headband.
Or give up and just eat pie.
Ok iv been very slack over the last week. I apologise. Iv been run off my feet preparing for the Mr's birthday weekend extravaganza which turned out to be pretty good, if not a tad expensive. At least the weather has held out for us. When I get a picture of my "get-ups" from the weekend, I'l bang them up on here.
Iv also been working on a flash website that should hopefully look rather impressive when done. Itl run along side this blog, with more images and videos etc. Exciting stuff!
Today I woke up with a crazy barnet.- fringe sticking out in random angles, triangle poofy plait hair, and generally just a mess. I tried a few things out to disguise it, and the 2 I most liked were the rafia floppy hat from H&M, which gave a glamorous twist to a basic vintage style pintuck shift from Miss Selfridge, and also a white flower garland headband from Accesorize that made it more relaxed and hippy-ish. Iv made the mistake of wearing this band across the middle of my forehead before, which left a very attractive indentation that stayed for several hours. Not something id reccomend.
In the end I gave up with my hair, and just ate some left over lemon meringue pie that I made over the weekend. Ahhhh... Much better.
Hope every one is well! If you regularly visit my pages, please could you click the "follow" button to be updated on my posts on your dashboard.

Another day another dollar... spent in my case.

Limited edition Barbara Hulaniki for Topshop slouch t-shirt and Ralph Lauren high ride camel chinos
 Hulaniki design on the top
Topshop platforms

Another day another dollar... spent in my case.Today was just a casual day at uni where we looked at internships and started a web design module. Weather wise, it has been gorgeously sunny all day long, and this meant that I didnt need too many layers to keep in the warmth. I pulled out my Ralph Lauren skinny high rise chinos and paired it with a limited edition Barbara Hulaniki for Topshop slouchy tshirt. Tucked in at the front to show off the belt and shoes stacked sky high, the look was a layed back and preppy. These platforms, I must admit, are not the most comfortable or easy to walk in. They had to be switched with some converse anytime I needed to walk more than 5 minutes. However, these were a bargin, snapped up for £30 in the sale back in January.
Luckily, there were no damaged ankles here by the end of the day.
Also, just to let any regular visiters know, I will be getting a new good camera and tripod for my birthday next month, so Goodbye blurry snaps taken in the mirror! Hello jazzy proffesional and arty pictures! Hurrah. Its about time...
Hope everyone is well.

Tuesday Boo'sday

 Channeling the colour yellow...
Vintage yellow lucite necklace from Totnes Vintage Fair

Today I woke up in a happy mood, so was immediately drawn to my bright yellow pencil skirt. Yellow, not only being my favourite colour, I feel it is the universal colour of happiness. I think it has an unconscious affect on people and makes people smile. Maybe because it makes people think of sunshine?? Who knows... With this skirt, I matched it with a suedette laser cut top with a green and purple floral cami underneath so you just catch flashes of colour through the holes. Then with this I stuck on a vintage lucite yellow necklace I bought from Totnes Vintage Fair (the same place I got my vintage mulberry briefcase/satchel- best vintage fair ever!), to tie in with the colour of the skirt. I like to think I brightened up a few peoples days today.

I also had the hand in of a disertation I had been working on since xmas, so it was a weight off my shoulders to get that all signed, sealed and delivered. Now for the rest of the day I shall be getting a back and neck massage as my back is still super sore. All these high heels and 2 tonne work portfolios that have to be lugged around cant be helping. Hopefully will feel a lot better by the end of the day. After this, I will be pootling on over to the Mr's and maybe doing some baking. Pancake day is looming so might warm my stomach up for that by getting some practice in.

Hope everyone is well.

 Bright and bubbly today...
Chunky wedge boots, courtesy of Mama
 Vintage Silver Collar Tips- "BarbedWireAndSilk"
Warehouse Dress for the Mr's Birthday "Do"
The selling point- the gorgeous scoop cross over back and 30's style tassel necklace worn on reverse.

So today was a gorgeous sunny day so I went for these fabulous bright colours (shown in first snap). I thought the green scalloped vest (topshop) looked stunning clashing with the magenta cardi (house of fraser), so popped on a pretty jangley necklace, a button through denim tulip skirt (topshop again) and big chunky wedge boots (courtesy of my mom). Chunky by not so comfortable. But sod comfort, they looked good.
Below are my new vinatge silver collar tips that have just come into my life. As I am a regular wearer of shirts and all things with collars, I thought this would add a cute little edge to an outfit. Im looking forward to wearing them tomorrow.
Underneath this, is a dress which iv bought to wear to the Mr's birthday next week. It caught my eye immediately as the colour is a really flattering shade on my skin tone, and the abstract leopard print is right up my street. But the icing on the cake was the low scoop cross-over back. I thought this would look amazing with a 30's style gold tassel necklace worn down the back, which I sourced from accesorize. Il probably wear it with some big-ass black patent platforms and thick tights.
Hope all my readers are well. Would love to hear anything from any of you, so feel free to leave a comment below, or on any of the previous posts that you have liked.
